The focus of the Innovation Laboratory is to build a long-term innovation capability within an organisation.
The program is designed to be undertaken as a series of facilitated workshops which can be taken as a consolidated program or as individual modules (see descriptions below).
The first step in the “innovation process”.
INVESTIGATE – the research and investigation phase.
Participants are presented with a future business “environmental scan” of their sector and asked to consider this in looking at their organisation in a new light consider emerging developments and opportunities in the marketplace.
The intention of this stage is to gather business intelligence and information relevant to the possible future state of an organization.
CREATE – the creative phase moves participants through numerous brainstorming and idea-generation processes.The intention of this stage is to develop as many ideas as possible (for new products, processes, management approaches, marketing initiatives etc.).
EVALUATE – the divergent processes of the first two phases become more convergent and disciplined as participants utilize relevant screening techniques in order to determine the difference between a ‘good idea’ and a business concept that is likely to be robust and successful.
The intention of this stage is to select only the most robust innovation opportunities and to take these through to business case approval.
ACTIVATE – the final phase of the innovation process is where ideas are turned into reality and the innovation concept is implemented into the business or marketplace.
The intention of this stage is to ensure the innovation concept is positioned for success and activated in a manner that maximizes the opportunities for success.
Programs are typically delivered to cohorts of 10 to 20 people from the one organisation. This allows the program to be customised to the needs of an organisation and ensures that application to live business opportunities within that enterprise is possible.
Programs can also be delivered to cohorts from partner organizations if suitable synergies exist.
